"We use Star Rewards. This is a coupon that allows an employee at any level to thank another employee at any level for going the extra mile. There is a spot to write what they appreciated. For example, unhappy customer that they settled down in a professional way, or thanks for getting that last minute report done so quickly, or thanks for picking up the trash left in our parking lot or thanks for taking charge of our community project and getting employees involved. 

The coupon then has an area on the bottom where they can choose a $10 gift card from Target, Applebees, Menards or movie passes.  We keep track of all the turned in coupons and select a Quarterly Service Star Award winner chosen by the CEO. The recipient receives a plaque and $50 gift card. Employees really seem to like this program."
