National Nurses Week is almost here! Have you decided what appreciation gift you’ll give your staff?
Healthcare professionals have recently told us about memorable nurse appreciation they’ve given and received, which inspired this list of dos and don’ts for National Nurses Week 2009.
DO give an appreication gift during National Nurse Week. A tangible recognition item serves as a constant reminder of your appreciation. Nurses and staff members will use your gift regularly and will feel your appreciation every day!
DO make it personal. Present appreciation gifts to individuals or teams in person at a staff meeting or celebratory reception. The in-person presentation will make the appreciation gift even more valuable to your nurses and staff.
DO something everyday. Nurses work hard all year round, often without receiving the thanks they deserve. Make National Nurses Week a special time by recognizing their dedication and contributions everyday of the week.
DON’T try to do everything yourself. Get everyone involved in the celebration! Include patients, techs, doctors and administrators. Use the talents and ideas of this group to make National Nurses Week special this year, but don’t forget to recognize all their help at the end of the week, too!
DON’T leave gifts in the lounge. Yes, healthcare professional told us that this actually happened to her! Nurse appreciation gifts were left in the lounge, and an email instructed everyone to pick up the gift themselves. Something about this doesn’t seem very genuine to us…
DON’T spend an arm and a leg! A memorable National Nurses Week doesn’t have to break your budget. Baudville’s new themes, Everyday Hero and You Save the Day, feature quality gifts for less than $5 each!
Giving an appreciation gift is an important part of National Nurses Week and can keep your nurses and staff motivated, engaged and productive. To make your appreciation gift most effective, follow these gift giving tips:
? Select your gift carefully, and choose an item that nurses will use frequently.
? For an impressive presentation, gift wrap your gift. A gift bag and some tissue paper can really dress it up!
? Make the appreciation gift truly memorable by including a greeting card or small note card.
? Learn from this year’s National Nurses Week to make 2010 even better! Talk to nurses and staff about the gift and its presentation. What can you do better next year?
