"A few years ago we started a safety program and our employees have really taken kindly to it. This is how it works:
- For 60 days without a recordable injury every employee gets $25 cash.
- For 120 days without a recordable injury we give every employee $50 cash.
- If we can go 180 days without a recordable injury, everyone gets one paid day off.
The incentive for a paid day off really has everyone working hard to be as safe as possible. Our recordable injuries have fallen 20% and now safety has become a part of everyday training and performance. It’s amazing what a safety program along with a little cash and free time will do."
