In the summer, beautiful weather and activities compete for your employees’ attention outdoors while you struggle to keep them focused on goals and results indoors. Often the best solution to this distracting season is to embrace it! Take your team outside and engage them in a summer team event they won’t forget!
Have prizes, like this gift set, on hand for your summer team games and competitions!
Old Fashioned Company Picnic. Throw a traditional summer picnic for your team, complete with summer fare, games, and prizes. In addition to a meal of burgers, hot dogs, and potato salad, watch your team compete in a three legged race and tug of war. Give participants a water bottle to help them stay hydrated and cool! What other games make you think of a summer picnic? Share them on our Facebook page!
Executive Grill Out. A favorite summer team event among Baudville employees is when our executives grill lunch for the company! Grills are set up just outside our distribution center, and our executives take orders – lunch orders, that is - from the employees.
Culinary Competition. Challenge your team to create the best burger or salad, or use watermelon in a creative way. The culinary competition entries can be the center of a team potluck you enjoy at a nearby park. Select judges and give prizes, like our new Journal, Pen, and Tote Gift Set, to the winners for their culinary masterpieces!
Scavenger Hunt. Summer is a wonderful time to be outside (especially here in Michigan!), so give your team a treat by sending them outside on a scavenger hunt. Your challenge can take place around town or you can set up your clues at a nearby park or playground. If your part of the world is extremely hot in the summer, plan your scavenger hunt in your building, a mall, or museum.
Giant Board Games. Everyone enjoys lawn games in the summer, so surprise your team by creating a giant board game outside. You can make checkers or Connect Four come alive by creating a chalk grid in your parking lot. Or use colorful fabric circles to make a Twister mat on your lawn. Thank them for playing by giving everyone a new Insulated Cooler Bag they can use for lunches or at the beach!

Request some interesting trivia facts about each co-worker and create a puzzle in your next newsletter matching the little known trivia fact to the correct employee. Give Sweet Treats as prizes to employees who have the most correct answers or are the first to complete the matches. This is a great way to get your employees interacting and learning about one another.

This summer, focus your team on creating a positive work environment with this best practice. Download Baudville’s "52 Ways to Have Fun at Work” eBook and implement the ideas over the summer. A great way to use the ideas in this ebook is to kick off each week with a quick a 10-minute team meeting.
At your first meeting, pick one of the positive culture ideas, and write it on a white board or flip chart. Together brainstorm specific ways to bring the idea to life, and add your ideas to the board or flip chart. At nine minutes, everyone initials an activity to try in the coming week.
At next week’s meeting, form a circle and read last week’s idea aloud. Go around the circle, reporting on the activity you tried. Give brief positive recognition after each report. Plan for next week by selecting a new idea and following the steps used in meeting one.
