Baudville releases new brand of recycled corporate holiday greeting cards
Company to pay for 3 tree plantings with each eco-friendly business holiday card order
October 1, 2008
Grand Rapids, MICH.– Baudville, Inc., a leading provider of employee recognition and award products, recently announced the release of a new brand of recycled corporate holiday cards. The new brand, Pleasantrees, is the only all green business-to-business greeting card provider. While other greeting card providers may offer some eco-friendly cards, only Pleasantrees can say its entire collection of corporate holiday cards are recycled cards.
Pleasantrees’ new website launched in mid-September to give customers the first chance to order from 128 exclusively designed eco-friendly cards. A 32-page Pleasantrees catalog, printed on FSC-certified recycled paper, will be sent to customers the first of October.
The decision to go green was an easy one, says Baudville, Inc. President and CEO, Brad Darooge. “When it comes to offsetting our carbon footprint, we don’t know it all, but we do know that we can do our part.”
To further its dedication to the environment, Pleasantrees will be giving back to forests throughout North America through participation in the American Forests Global ReLeaf program.
American Forests, the nation’s oldest nonprofit citizens’ conservation organization, is dedicated to preserving and restoring the environment by planting trees in the right place for the right reason. Its Global ReLeaf program is an education and action program that helps individuals, organizations, agencies, and corporations improve the local and global environment by planting and caring for trees.
The Global ReLeaf program plants one tree for every dollar donated. Pleasantrees will be a part of American Forests’ efforts as every eco-friendly business holiday card order placed will plant three trees for the Global ReLeaf program. The company hopes to plant over 50,000 trees by December 2009.
According to the Greeting Card Association, U.S. households purchase approximately 7 billion greeting cards each year, most of which are made out of virgin paper. In contrast, Pleasantrees has made recycled, eco-friendly cards not only a priority, but a mandate for the entire collection. All Pleasantrees eco-friendly business holiday cards are produced on recycled paper certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) with at least 50% recycled content and 30% post-consumer content, a stringent criterion in the greeting card industry.
The entire Pleasantrees business holiday greeting card production process has been closely examined to ensure a truly eco-friendly card. In the process of launching Pleasantrees, Baudville, Inc. became FSC-certified as did several of its vendors. The certification ensures that the trees being used to create paper for the eco-friendly cards are from well-managed forests. The involvement of the FSC verifies that Pleasantrees’ claims of recycled cards are accurate.
Ada-based Falcon Printing, a long-time Baudville vendor, went through the certification process so that they could produce the Pleasantrees line. Falcon is responsible for the creation of over 50 recycled cards of the Pleasantrees exclusive line.
“It is partnerships with companies like Pleasantrees that make our vision to have healthy forests in every community a reality. Together we’re creating positive change in our environment, three trees at a time,” said Deborah Gangloff, American Forests Executive Director.
“The new Pleasantrees brand is more than just eco-friendly corporate holiday cards,” said Darooge. “It’s an opportunity to be a resource to our customers on how they can reduce their environmental impact in the office. By partnering with American Forests, our company and our customers have the opportunity to make a difference in local communities throughout the world.”
Pleasantrees is the only all-green corporate holiday greeting card provider in the industry. All Pleasantrees exclusively designed eco-friendly cards are created with FSC-certified paper of at least 50% recycled content and 30% post-consumer content. In order to help improve forests throughout North America, Pleasantrees has partnered with American Forests and will donate three trees for every eco-friendly card order placed through December 2009. Pleasantrees is a sister brand of Baudville, an employee recognition and awards company, and IDville, creator of ID Maker software and supplier of all products surrounding the identification of employees, students and staff.
