Meeting Behavior Leaves an Impression

Meeting behavior has always intrigued me. I was usually the one rushing in late as others would roll their eyes to communicate their disapproval. It took me a long time to figure out that by being late to a meeting I was really disrespecting the other meeting participants.

I would watch other department leaders offer their quick concise reports, and I would usually give my update. Then before the meeting was over, I would have to interject something that I had forgotten.

If only someone would have taught me about how I could motivate others around me by coming to meetings more prepared.

What impression do you leave in meetings?  Are you the positive role model of a professional?

Does your meeting behavior make people feel better because you were there – or not?
